This is one of the most challenging multi-terrain runs in the South West…Previously voted Devon Race of the Year! You will definitely get wet, you will definitely get muddy, and you will finish with a smile on your face!

All that and Christmas pudding for all finishers…. what’s not to like?

Good vibes and post race goodies create one of the most challenging multi-terrain runs in the South West! Our locally renowned caper was previously voted Devon Race of the Year. In 2023 for the first time we welcomed Torrington Silver Band to play for runners at various points around the course!​

Each year, TAAC donates race proceeds to local charities, usually presented at our Round The Tree event the following Spring. ​

The Caper is made possible by the generous support of Clinton Devon Estates, Robert Squire and Glen Bealey who kindly allow access to their land. Please run respectfully and listen to the instructions from marshals for your safety and enjoyment.

Fancy dress optional but encouraged! NEW for 2024 – reusable Caper drawstring kit bag for all finishers and, hot off the press, the Caper 2024 is sponsored by Launceston-based Firebrand Brewing Co who are supplying Christmas Ale (plus a non-alcoholic version).

Race number and chip collection will be on the day. Please fill in the reverse of your number with your details, emergency contact and any medical conditions.

The Caper often sells out (300) so book in plenty of time…no-one wants to be disappointed at Christmas!

EVENT LOCATION: Torrington Rugby Club, Hatchmoor Road, Torrington. No parking on site but almost opposite at Simon Plastics and other roads on the Hatchmoor Industrial Estate, postcode: EX38 7HP or at the school sports car park a few minutes’ walk down the road (use EX38 7BU).

Registration/number collection starts 9.30 am

Race start time 11 am.

Minimum age on day is 17.

Showers should be available post-race.

REFRESHMENTS available to purchase: tea, coffee, mince pies, bacon baps, sausage rolls and much more! Plus the Rugby Club bar will be open.
