THE SMUGGLERS WAY

THIS EVENT IS IN SUPPORT OF CHILDREN’S HOSPICE SOUTHWEST
A supported, self navigation trail run through the beautiful county of Kernow.

Starting out from the pretty North Coast fishing village of Boscastle, you will head south across Cornwall’s stunning interior, via Bodmin Moor, Brown Willy, multiple other Tors, through wooded fields & lush green valleys, before finishing in the bustling traditional seaside town of Looe on the south coast.

We will have 4 checkpoints for you along the route, where our smiley, happy staff will welcome you in & ensure you are fully stocked with fluids as well as salt, sugar & savoury snacks.

Each Checkpoint will have it’s own cut-off time & the event overall has a cut-off time of 14.5 hours
Event start 0630hrs
• Cut off CP1 – 1000hrs (14.3km)
• Cut off CP2 – 1251hrs (25.7km)
• Cut off CP3 – 1512hrs (36.8km)
• Cut off CP4 – 1808hrs (47.5km)
• Cut off Finish – 2104hrs

There is an optional extra minibus transfer back to Boscastle from the finish, please book this option when entering the event.

All runners will be issued with a GPS tracker, a map & will be required to check in at ALL checkpoints as well as the finish.

(Even if you don’t plan on stopping, please make sure the Checkpoint staff see your bib number as you go through).

THERE IS A MANDATORY KIT LIST FOR THIS EVENT & ALL RUNNERS WILL BE SUBJECT TO A KIT CHECK AT RACE REGISTRATION IN BOSCASTLE.

COMPASS & MAP READING SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER ON THE MOORS!

-GPS Tracker / link to live feed (Issued at reg)
-Compass (phone app NOT acceptable)
-Head torch
-Whistle
-Bivvy/Survival bag (NOT FOIL BLANKET)
-Hi Vis top / kit bag or reflective strips for safety
-Lightweight Waterproof top (can be wearing)
-Long trousers / running leggings or tights (can be wearing)
-Hat (can be wearing)
-Chocolate bar or nutrition.
-First Aid Kit (plasters, wipes, tape)
-A minimum of 1 litre of fluid.
-A spare lightweight warm long sleeved top (in a waterproof bag)
-A fully charged working mobile phone with battery pack charger.
-Paper with your name and your NOK mobile number written on it (in a waterproof bag )
-£20 Cash (Emergency spends)
-Collapsible/reusable cup (Cup less event – if you’d like coke/squash/water at CP’s & finish)

The kit list is there for your safety. We expect to see EVERY bit of kit listed, with you at kit check. If you have any questions concerning the list, please email prior to race day~

All runners will receive an event medal and we will have awards for the top 3 male & female finishers!

Minimum age for this event is 18.

This is also Stage 2 of the Saints & Smugglers 100 Mile Challenge!

This event is in support of the Children’s Hospice Southwest and charity places are also available
