💜💜 'LET'S LIFT THE CURFEW' Club Run💜💜

27 Oct by Becki Ford ⚡️

Tomorrow evenings Club Run will be a special one. Not only because of our current captains last run as captains, but also because we will be joining forces with many other clubs and groups in England, who are taking part in the ‘Lets lift the Curfew’ events this week.

Let me tell you a bit more about the campaign behind this… ’Let’s lift the curfew’ events are happening across the country and have been created to call attention to the unwanted curfew many women feel during the darker months, when safety concerns limit their freedom to get active outdoors. This is a nationwide initiative in support of the Sports England ‘This Girl Can’ campaign supported by England Athletics, which is happening all over England this week. It has been running since October 2023, highlighting women’s stories and concerns around getting active outdoors in the darker months.

So tomorrow and Thursday evening our Club Runs will be in aid of keep raising awareness of this campaign within our community to acknowledge the importance of making getting active outdoors safer for women.

All groups going out tomorrow will be running an out and back route towards the Tamar Bridge and back. Feel free to share our run night with all your female friends and let them join us.

It will be a purple night so come in your Storm club colours and also your head/chest torches to light up the paths.

On Thursday will be a normal club run with different routes for different ability groups but purple club colours are still encouraged and again share our run night with all your female friends and let them join us.

Furthermore, to spread awareness log your run on Strava and label it ‘Let’s Lift the Curfew’ Club Run and share the hashtags #letsliftthecurfew #thisgirlcanuk

Thank you all for your support in making women feel safer outdoors💜💜
