Hereโs a โlittleโ update on Stormโs first month of 2024 โ a week or two late ๐ ๐
First off thank you to all that got involved in the blind pairings during the Xmas break! It was brilliant to see the posts appearing on the network page and seeing you all out keeping active over the festive period. Yet again it had some fantastic reviews from all those involved and has really helped our runners mix with people they donโt always get the chance to run with.
We kicked off the new year with a fantastic showing at the first club supported race of the year. The January Jaunt 10K seems to inspire everyone to get back on it each year after Christmas and yet again we turned up with great numbers. Another freezing cold start with a few early risers getting the famous palace in place for us and then the bobble hats came out in force. During the race it was lovely to see all the support for one another as you ran around that course and crossed paths with fellow stormies and there were great results all around! The race organisers have emailed since to say what a credit all of our attendees were to the club that morning, how proud we should be of the way we conduct ourselves and to say thank you for the support each year!! ๐ช๐ป๐๐ป๐๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
We also had runners at various events again this month including the Plym Valley trails, the first chance 10k, pagan trails, endurance life South Devon and our old fave ParkRun where we have been represented all over ๐โก๏ธ
What a start to events this year!! There are many more to come and I will be posting up a list of races we are aiming to support as a club for the rest of this year on Friday look out for this. ๐๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
Unfortunately I couldnโt make it to our ROM for February but was delighted to hear what a great job our Committee members did (especially Becki) in taking the lead on the night. Massive congratulations to Katie W who came away with Januaryโs award and very much deserved too amongst a great field of nomineeโs. Thanks to all who helped out at ROM. ๐
January has seen us gain a few new runners to the team as well as some returning old faces that we havenโt seen for a while. This is always great to see and good to see the numbers in the groups growing and growing again. Plenty of the new starters from this time last year have established themselves now as part of the fabric of the club and Iโm sure it will be the same for some of this yearโs crop.
Our captains hosted their first Storm Cuppa this month and had plenty of you pop along for a chat and a good catch up. Thanks to all that supported and be sure to keep an eye out for the next events. ๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธ๐จ๐ปโโ๏ธโ๏ธ
We will be looking to add to our Orange Army very soon and add a few new Buddies. We have had a few good suggestions from our leaders but if itโs something youโd really like to do, volunteer to help out some of our groups please message a committee member. ๐งก
As you will already know we are currently in a period where you can apply for a committee role. The post with all the info went out last week and the deadline to express an interest is tomorrow evening. The current committee will happily take this on for another year but we have to give everyone the opportunity to apply as per our club rules. Committee roles will be confirmed at our AGM.
Februaryโs ROM/AGM will be on Wednesday 28th February after the run and will be a slightly extended one due to us needing to run a few things past the members as well as relay the normal messages and updates. We hope to see all of you there as we announce our committee for the next 12 months.
Lastly, well done to all of those that have been out training for your big events. Looks like there have been some fantastic starts to the training plans and great to see so many big groups out on the weekends doing what we do and helping eachother to reach those goals.

We are almost there guys and girls โ not this post โ but the winter is almost done with. ๐ฅถ
There is light at the end of the tunnel and it shouldnโt be too much longer until we are turning up to club nights on light evenings. Dig in for the last stretch of dark and dingy evenings and the rewards will be glorious sunsets and much less layers!! ๐๐ปโ๏ธ๐๐ป๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
