GROUPS EXPLAINED!

STORM Runners

At this club we strongly believe in supporting, motivating and inspiring, whichever group you decide to run with on a STORM night, we want to ensure you are looked after and in the right group.

In any group there is a diversity of talent & ability. It is my leaders job to manage this diversity, in a safe and fun way.

No one likes being at the back, but being at the back is never a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of strength and desire to improve, it could have been easy to stay at the next group down.

Leaders will advise you to move up or in some cases down, this is for your personal development. If you do not wish to move up, that is absolutely fine. We are here to help and make running fun, not beast and put people off.

Be honest with yourself. You will enjoy your STORM nights a lot more, by running in adequate groups. If you push too soon, too much, you will break and fall out of love with running.

This is a rough guideline. The “farahs” group is for those who can comfortably run sub 7.30 min miles for 8 miles.

The “fasts” group is for anyone who can confidently run sub 8.30 mm. The fast leader will aim to lead you on a run of a distance between 6.5-7.5 miles.

“Med/fasts” are for anyone confidently running 9-9.30 mm. Leaders will aim to take you on a run of a distance 5.5-6.5 miles.

“Mediums” are for 10-10.30 mm. Leaders will aim for a distance of 4.5-5.5 miles.

“Bm4s” are for 11-11.30 mm. Leaders will aim to take you on a run of 3.5-4.5 miles.

“Bm3s " are for 12/13 mm. Leaders will aim to take you out running for 2.5-3.5 miles.

“Beginners” this is the most important & valuable group. Leaders will work on a variety of exercises & techniques to improve strength, stamina and up your confidence.

All leaders are different, and any running night and venue will change.

The most important thing is that any runners wishing to attend runs, sign in via the app. This will give me a picture of how many to expect and what leaders to assign to certain groups.

I hope this explanation helps 🙂
